Stacey Patterson Canaday

Stacey Canaday grew up in Beaufort, SC and, after obtaining her degree in English from Lander University in 1997 and her Juris Doctor from Louisiana State University in 2000, she returned to her hometown to practice law in 2000. After practicing general civil law for a little more than a year, she joined Tupper, Grimsley & Dean, P.A. as an associate. She is now a shareholder in the firm, and practices primarily in the area of insurance defense litigation, to include construction defect and personal injury defense. She is admitted to all South Carolina State Courts and the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina. Stacey holds an AV rating, the highest possible rating, from Martindale-Hubbell®, a professional legal organization.

As a practicing lawyer, Stacey has been active in both the Beaufort County Young Lawyer’s Association, as well as the Beaufort County Bar Association, having previously served as Secretary (2013), Treasurer (2014), Vice President (2015), and President (2016). She is also a member of the South Carolina Bar Association, the Construction Law Section of the South Carolina Bar Association, the South Carolina Defense Trial Lawyers Association, the South Carolina Women Lawyer Association, and the Defense Research Institute.

Outside of practicing law, Stacey is heavily involved in her community. She is a 2007 graduate of the Leadership Beaufort program, a current Board member of the Child Abuse Prevention Association (2012-present), a current Board member of Friends of Caroline Hospice (2015-present), and served as the 63rd Annual Beaufort Water Festival Commodore, an all-volunteer-run festival, now in its 68th year. Stacey and her husband Chris, the Finance Manager for the Town of Port Royal, have two boys.
